Luminex MDM

Device management on your premises.

Luminex MDM is a management appliance delivered per customer and hosted inside your network. Devices enroll to it out of the box; the console sees and runs the whole fleet; nothing in the path belongs to a third party. It is built for fleets of locked-down devices doing one job, in a ward, a cell block, a classroom, a vehicle or a plant.

What the console covers

In the order the work is done: the fleet first, then the setup sequence, then the people and the insights.

Fleet

  • Dashboard: enrolled, online, status, devices per configuration
  • Devices: every unit with its location, configuration, model, last check-in
  • Locations tree: site, building, floor, room
  • Device actions: lock, unlock, factory reset, screen PIN, a timed USB-debugging window
  • Kiosk status strip and per-device log pull

Device tracking

  • Map: GPS location and trail per device
  • Luminex RTLS: every tablet on the floor plan, placed from the beacons, access points and carts it hears
  • Coverage drawn per access point and beacon, from what the devices actually hear
  • Not-heard-for alerts, so a device that walked is noticed before the shift ends

Configure

  • Configurations: policies, kiosk mode, allowed apps, settings, compliance
  • Applications: a catalog with silent install and update, staged per configuration
  • Networks and certificates: Wi-Fi, CA and client certificates, APN
  • Documents: file distribution with an on-device viewer
  • Firmware: signed OTA packages, full and delta, staged rollouts

Enrollment

  • Batch enrollment: profiles and manifests, so a pallet of devices lands in the right rooms
  • Provisioning kit for the bench; QR enrollment for the one-off
  • Unassigned: a holding pen with a waiting badge for devices nobody has placed yet

End users

  • Device users: PIN sign-in and sign-out on shared devices, with a built-in Technician account
  • Sessions: who held which device, when
  • Messaging: texts to a device or a group, with delivered and read receipts and an on-device inbox
  • Remote view and remote control from the device page

Insights and admin

  • Alerts: rules, email and webhooks
  • Reports: inventory, compliance, usage, alerts, presence; CSV, print, schedules
  • Device log and audit log with filters
  • Users, roles, two-factor sign-in for administrators

Delivered as an appliance

What it is. One appliance per customer, on a virtual machine or hardware inside your network. We provision it, hand you the administrator credentials, and your devices enroll to it out of the box. It never depends on a Luminex cloud to keep running.

  • TLS at the edge with a per-customer certificate authority; the agent trusts your CA and nothing else
  • Automatic backups and a whole-appliance restore, from the console
  • Licensing per appliance: Standard, Enterprise or Multi-tenant, by device count, with a service plan
  • A 30-day trial on every fresh appliance; enrolled devices are never cut off by a license
  • Multi-tenant option for service providers and hospital groups: one appliance, separate organizations

Why an OEM's MDM is different

What it is. A generic MDM manages hardware someone else made, within whatever the operating system allows an app to do. Luminex builds the ROM as well as the console, so the two are designed together.

  • Signed firmware over the air, staged across the fleet, with the signing keys that stay with your project
